Re-Watch FESA Alpencup Competition from Szczyrk below:
24.-25.01.2025 / Szczyrk, POLAND
The FESA Alpen Cup, often dominated by Austria, took an unexpected turn on the penultimate weekend in Szczyrk, Poland. Slovenia’s Žiga Jančar broke Austria’s hold on the podium with an outstanding jump of 103.5 meters, claiming victory ahead of Austria’s Simon Steinberger and fellow Slovenian Urban Simic. Despite finishing fourth, overall leader Nikolaus Hummel successfully defended his yellow jersey.
In the women’s event, Slovenia continued to shine as Tina Erzar took the win, followed by Germany’s Kim Amy Duschek and Slovenia’s Tinkara Komar. Agnieszka Indrackova (CZE) maintained her overall lead with an 11th-place finish, ensuring her grip on the yellow jersey.
Challenging wind conditions led to the cancellation of the second round and reshuffled the results. Austria managed to take first and third place with Simon Steinberger and Lukas Haagen, but the standout moment came as Poland’s Wiktor Szozda made history by securing second place—the first Polish podium in the Alpen Cup. Slovenia’s Žiga Jančar and Austria’s Johannes Pölz shared fourth place, while another Pole, Kacper Tomasiak, claimed sixth.
A strong gust forced overall leader Nikolaus Hummel to abort his jump, leaving him scoreless and throwing the race for the overall title wide open. With 200 points still up for grabs at the final in Oberhof, six athletes remain in contention for the championship.
In the women’s competition, Tina Erzar delivered another dominant performance, winning the single-round event ahead of Germany’s Kim Amy Duschek and Slovenia’s Lucija Jurgec. Despite finishing eighth, overall leader Agnieszka Indrackova retained the yellow jersey, but the title race is far from decided. Six athletes will compete for the overall victory at the decisive final in Oberhof.
