Golden Ski Award as a Highlight at FESA Continental Cup in Nove Město — Tradition Meets Top-Level Competition

Monday, February 16, 2026

The FESA Continental Cup Cross-Country Skiing staged a competitive stop in Nove Město on 14–15 February 2026, featuring a Sprint Free (F) on Saturday and a 20 km Mass Start Free (F) on Sunday. The competition took place in the Nove Mesto ski stadium with warm weather on Saturday and snowfall on Sunday delivering ideal course surfaces for distance racing.

Approximately 230 athletes from 15 nations participated in the event, showcasing strong international depth across both sprint and distance disciplines.

The weekend victories were distributed among multiple nations:

  • France (FRA): 3 wins

  • Italy (ITA): 2 wins

  • Switzerland (SUI): 1 win

  • Czech Republic (CZE): 1 win

  • Germany (GER): 1 win

A very special highlight of the Sunday competition was the presentation of the Golden Ski trophy to the winners of the men’s and women’s mass start races. The Golden Ski is one of the oldest traditional cross-country ski trophies in Europe, first contested in 1934 in Nove Město as a prize to motivate developing athletes, and over time becoming a highly respected symbol of achievement in Nordic skiing.

For the 85th edition of this venerable award, the recipients were:

  • Liv Coupat (FRA) — Women’s Golden Ski winner
  • Antonin Savary (SUI) — Men’s Golden Ski winner

Current overall leaders in the FESA Continental Cup standings after Nove Město are:

  • U20 Women: Romane Nappey (ITA)

  • Women: Theresa Fürstenberg (GER)

  • Men U20: Federico Pozzi (ITA)

  • Men: Victor Cullet Calderini (FRA)

The competition calendar now continues with the FIS Junior and U23 World Championships in Lillehammer from 2–8 March 2026. Following the championships, the FESA Continental Cup will resume with the next event in Santa Caterina-Valfurva on 21–22 March 2026, where the Continental Cup Final will be held together with the FESA Games for U16 and U18 athletes, the season highlight for the Youth Athletes.
