Speed Days Ahead: FESA Raiffeisen FIS Challenge Returns to Val Gardena

Saturday, November 29, 2025

In the coming days, Val Gardena will once again host the traditional FESA Raiffeisen FIS Challenge. On Monday, 1 December, and Tuesday, 2 December, two FIS downhill races for men and women will be held each day at Piz Sella.

The FESA Raiffeisen FIS Challenge is not only a small preview of what, just over two weeks later, the big skiing stars such as Marco Odermatt, Dominik Paris & Co. will showcase during the renowned Saslong Classic in Val Gardena. Above all, it represents an opportunity for young talents to earn valuable FIS points right at the start of the season. “This means they can secure a good starting position for the rest of the winter. As a result, they may start further up the field in European Cup races later in the season. It can trigger a positive chain reaction that, in the broadest sense, can even determine the course of a skiing career,” says Rainer Senoner of the Saslong Classic Club, who will organize the races with his team.

The predominantly young athletes will arrive in Val Gardena on Sunday, 30 November. Training sessions and races will take place on Monday, 1 December, and Tuesday, 2 December. “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the Marzola family, who are once again making the slope available to us. Skiing is truly close to their hearts. We wish the athletes fair and, above all, injury-free races,” Senoner concludes.
